2. Where to start in Paris?

Four main options for an absolute beginner:

Option A — Private class first (fastest)

5 to 8 targeted private classes lay the foundations in a few weeks. Fastest and most efficient option, but most expensive short-term.

Option B — Bachata school (most economical)

Sign up for a year (September-June) in a Paris school, beginner level. The group format creates connection and lets you practice weekly. Progression slower: 6-9 months to dance at parties.

Option C — The combo (recommended)

5-8 private classes first to set foundations, then join a school for social practice. Intermediate cost, maximum progression, preserved social network.

Option D — Online classes + parties

Learn via YouTube or paid platforms then practice directly at intro parties. Cheap but slow and risky for technique. Not recommended as main method.

FAQ — Beginner questions

Do I need rhythm to learn bachata?

No. Rhythm sense is trained like a skill. A "rhythm-less" beginner becomes rhythmic in 3-6 months with regular practice and a good teacher. Rhythm is trained ears, not a gift.

Do I need to be in shape?

No. Bachata is moderate, progressive intensity. Anyone in good health can start, regardless of age or fitness. Many beginners discover that bachata gets them in shape, not the other way around.

Can I learn solo or do I need a partner?

You learn solo, it's the norm. Most students attend without a partner and rotate during class.

What age to start bachata?

From 16 to 75+. Most Paris students are 25-55, but we regularly see 60+ beginners dancing well after 1 year of regular practice.
